Watch Videos of Longboards and riding Loaded Dervish Boards

Anyone watching a Loaded dervish video on YouTube can appreciate the grace riders exhibit when executing simple or difficult tricks. While the ability to do these stunts largely depends on the ability of the rider, a lot of it has to do with the board they are riding on too.

The Loaded dervish is legendary within longboarding circles for its stability and for its being a very forgiving longboard to ride. Made by Loaded Carving Systems of the United States out of a tri-axle fiberglass and epoxy sandwich with a vertical laminated bamboo core, the dervish is both durable and has just the right amount of flexibility longboarders look for.

When seen from the side, the board is shaped in a convex camber which can be compressed when the rider applies more weight on the board. The force a rider applies is returned when the rider straightens up or takes a bit of his weight off the board resulting in little to no loss of forward momentum. The board is available in two degrees of stiffness or flex. Flex 1 dervish boards are the stiffer of the two and are meant to accommodate riders weighing up to two hundred thirty pounds or for those who have a more aggressive skating style. The Flex 2 boards are meant for lighter riders weighing up to one hundred eighty pounds.

The dervish’s nose and tail are narrower than its middle, eliminating the possibility of the wheels biting on to the edge of the board when taking those sharp turns. These also make it easier to do shovit and manual tricks. The dervish has precision milled cutouts suitable for most drop-through reverse kingpin trucks. The board is decorated with Middle East themed graphics inspired by the graceful movements of the whirling dervishes from which the board gets its name. The whirling dervishes are known as such because of the graceful whirls they make when participating in rights which remember their god.

Those who have ridden or owned a dervish describe the ride as smooth, stable, agile, lively and responsive. These attributes which the dervish has makes it suitable for most anything you can do with a longboard such as commuting, bowls, dancing, sliding, carving, and going down moderate hills. While Loaded recommends the use of a stiffer board when going down steep hills at very fast speeds, the dervish can be used safely for speeds up to thirty miles per hour.
