So you want to try out longboarding but are not sure which one to buy? Loaded dervish decks offer you the best value for your money and are a great way to get into the exciting world of longboarding.
The dervish is a longboard manufactured by Loaded Carving Systems in the United States. It is about forty-two inches long and twenty one and eight and a half inches wide. It has a wheel base of about thirty-three inches and weighs about eight pounds when the trucks and wheels are attached. The dervish is designed for use with 70mm+ wheels.
Constructed out of a tri-axle fiberglass and epoxy sandwich with a vertical-laminated bamboo core, the board has just the right amount of flexibility but can stand years of use (and abuse). Fear of the board biting onto the wheels when making a sharp turn is a thing of the past as the dervish is narrower at the ends than it is in the middle. It has cut outs which allows one to install drop-through, reverse kingpin trucks of your choice. This lowers the dervish’s center of gravity, making it easier to push off.
If looks are a big thing for you, the dervish does not disappoint. The board is decorated by stunning graphics inspired by the graceful movements of the whirling dervishes of the Middle East.
But what really has riders impressed is its smooth, stable, agile, lively, responsive and forgiving ride. When seen from the side the board is shaped in a convex camber which flexes when the rider applies weight or force on the board. This ability to flex not only makes the board more stable but minimizes the loss of speed when carving or making sharp turns or slides. What happens is the force applied on the board when entering a turn is returned when the rider straightens up when getting out of it, resulting little to no loss in forward momentum.
The attributes of the dervish make it ideal for practically all of the things you can do with a longboard. Its smoothness and responsiveness make it an ideal mode of transportation for those short commutes. For going downhill, Loaded recommends the use of a stiffer board when riding downhill as these offer greater stability and control at higher speeds. The dervish however can be used to ride down moderate hills and is safe for use up to thirty miles per hour.
